Keto: Bulletproof Coffee

One of the most important things you need when doing Keto is Bulletproof Coffee. This is the best way to start your day and I personally take this in replacement of breakfast. It’s packed with calories and fat enough to get your brain and energy running throughout the day.

Ingredients

Before we start, I would like to say that this is my version of the Bulletproof coffee, as shared to me by a friend. There maybe other variations to this, but this is the basic one most people use.

Black coffee. I use brewed coffee, but others use instant powdered coffee. Others will say a specific coffee is better, but I think it will still work. Coffee will bind all of the other ingredients together – and as long as it tastes good, it’s fine!

Unsalted butter.  I don’t have a specific measurement, I just use a slice as the picture shows. At first, I couldn’t imagine how butter could go with coffee – but trust me, it works!

When I started Keto, I didn’t have MCT oil readily available. But, this is a good addition to really maximize your day starter. MCT oil is quickly absorbed by the body, and is converted directly to energy for your brain. You can learn more about the effects of MCT oil in this video from my favorite Keto YouTuber.

Lastly, I add Stevia to sweeten my coffee a bit. On my first week, I didn’t have Stevia available, so I basically drank my bulletproof coffee as it is, and it didn’t taste bad! So, you don’t really need this, unless you are the type who prefers a sweeter taste. Stevia is one of the recommended sweeteners for Keto as it doesn’t increase insulin (unlike Aspartame), so you can go all out on this one!

Steps

There are only two steps: put all ingredients in a blender – and then Blend! Make sure your coffee isn’t too hot as it could cause your blender to explode! I let the coffee sit for 5-10 minutes. After blending, you can transfer to a cup, and you’re ready to start your day!

Finished product – creamy bulletproof coffee!

  1. My bulletproof coffee is weird – aside from butter it has milk. Ok ra gaha to? Haha. I always take my coffee with milk kasi!

    1. Haha! Try switching to almond milk. Normal milk has high sugar content man gud. But yeah, others add cocoa powder or vanilla extract to flavor it up. I like just having butter as it is (and MCT oil).
