Run Rabit Run – Makati’s New Watering Hole
Run Rabbit Run looks like a normal house on the outside, but this sign by the red door says that there’s something magical to be found inside. I have been itching to try this out, but I didn’t want to do it alone. This time, Kristi’s visit was the perfect opportunity to finally discover what’s inside this intriguing façade. It was exactly what I imagined it to be!
We step into a dark sort of like a receiving area, that has two small tables and a couple of chairs – and we’re thinking, is this it? You can go straight into a dimly lit bar, but when we got there, there seemed to be a private party of some sort so we weren’t sure if we could go in. We were then led into the second floor, to a patio area – which was reminiscent of how old houses were like (very much similar to Alamat’s but a bit more spacious). I loved the aesthetics of the place. It was hip, it was subtle, but it had a lot of character.
We asked the waiter what their recommendations are. I asked for something that’s not sweet and a bit strong, and they recommended their signature cocktail called Jessica Rabbit. This drink is served with some sort of concoction that is poured over the glass and it creates this aromatic mist and magical effect! Speaking of Jessica Rabbit, I did not get the reference, but Kristi told me who she is so I now need to watch that classic movie when I get the time.
Kristi got the Chillin’ like a Villain, which is a bit fruity and sweet, while Mark got the Papa Buko, which came in a wooden container, with plastic leaves which reminded me of the tribes of the North.
Here’s their full menu in case you want to check out what you might like in advance! The price is a bit steep but I would say you can make the most out of it by sipping your drink slowly. You know, talk with your friends more! Haha.
Other drinks that seemed interesting to try (if only I was not on Keto) would be the Kaya Toast and the Halo-Halo. If you’re not on any restriction, I’d say go ahead and knock yourselves out with those drinks!
We said we’d only have a glass, but we had so much fun talking and catching up that we decided to order one more round before leaving. This time, we chose Gin & Tonic for a much simpler taste and still strong enough to make us sleep easy for the night!
True enough, their coasters said it. You may enter that place a bit grumpy, but you’ll definitely leave in high spirits!
Run Rabbit Run is located in P. Guanzon Street, Brgy. Poblacion, Makati. From A. Venue, you enter the corner between the old Fersal Hotel (now a travel agency) and Aberdeen Court. Right before you end up at P. Burgos, you’ll find it on the right side with the red door and the framed sign! I can’t wait to go back and bring other friends next time!
