#ELBI Tour – Baan Thai
After getting lost in the long and winding road of Makiling to get to St. Marc’s Chapel, we were starving! Debbie took us to this quaint Thai restaurant just outside the main gate of UPLB. It’s a small and humble place to be considered a “restaurant”, but the food is way better than most Thai restaurants here in Manila. Plus, a lot cheaper too!
The lady owner who attended to us spoke in Filipino but you can tell that she had a Thai accent. Well, I can tell because I’ve worked with Thai people in my previous role. I was really confident that food was going to be great!
We ordered a LOT of food. Curry, spring rolls, Pad Thai, Tom Yum, Bagoong Rice, Lemongrass Chicken, etc. I liked how there was no pretenses in the way the food was presented (word play right there). One taste and you know you are eating authentic Thai food! So good!!!
We forgot we were friends for awhile, while we stuffed ourselves full.
I recommend this place to those of you visiting the area! Again, don’t expect so much in terms of how the restaurant looks. It looks more like an eatery inside, and even the restroom is not within standards – but I tell you, the food is worth it!
