Bluewater Maribago Resort, Cebu

This weekend, I booked an overnight stay at one of the best resorts in the island. My sister’s birthday was a perfect excuse to splurge because otherwise, my mom would complain about spending too much money. Yes, maybe it’s a lot of money to burn for 2 days, especially when we already live on the island – but I think we need to splurge once in a while. I deserve this after everything we’ve been through the past month!

It was a gloomy weekend. I believe there was a storm, even. But we’re lucky that it didn’t really rain that hard while we were there. And I do prefer a cloudy day over a hot sunny day at the beach. The only downside is that the sky doesn’t look as nice in photos!

We spent a few hours at the beach. I ordered a pizza, some empanadas, a pitcher of iced tea, and a few glasses of beer. Splurge it is! To fully feel the vibe of the beach on a cloudy day, I had to get some beer.

After swimming and eating, we went back to our suite. There’s also a pool right outside our building so we also swam there until we got tired.

Then, we washed up and prepared for dinner. I did not manage to take photos of the room we were staying at, but I did take a photo of the big bathroom with a nice bathtub.

I want one for the house!

For dinner, we just ordered room service because we wanted to limit our exposure to other people still. We also ordered food from outside the resort via Foodpanda because we were starving and resort food was expensive! Haha. Good thing they allowed guests to bring food from outside as long as it’s reasonable for the number of people staying. Perhaps it’s a pandemic thing as resorts would normally charge corkage fees for bringing food from outside.

Room service food; waiting for our Dimsum Break to arrive!

The next day, I forgot to take photos but we had a nice breakfast buffet (that came with the room charge). I literally stuffed myself so that I didn’t even need to eat lunch that day. After that, we checked out and went back home, which is really less than 10 minutes away! Haha.

All in all, I’d say it was worth it. And I actually plan on trying out all of the resorts in the island in the future. I’ll need money for it but I think once a quarter is reasonable? Haha. And then I’ll blog about them since I can’t travel outside the country anyway.

So yeah, look forward to that. I need to make the most out of this blog (I just paid the renewal and it cost me some money), so I hope to post more local adventures and finds! 🙂
