Viaje del Sol – Nagcarlan, Laguna
One should not be a tourist in his own country. And more importantly, one has to learn of the people who have lived their lives and died fighting for our country’s freedom.
Our next stop is the Nagcarlan Underground Cemetery. Laguna is one of the first 8 provinces that revolted against Spanish rule and has played a big part in helping the Philippines gain its independence from Spain. The Nagcarlan Underground Cemetery became a secret gathering place for the revolutionaries of that time. Unfortunately, we got there late and the place was already closed. We settled with taking photos from the gate.
Before leaving Nagcarlan, we decided to drop by the town’s old church to say our prayers and make our wishes (they say you can make 3 wishes when you visit a church for the first time).
It was already getting dark and we had one more stop to go before settling in for the night in Majayjay.
