Day 5: The Keto Struggle Continues
Is this the Keto flu? I don’t really know. Despite feeling like sh*t the day before, I still woke up early (around 7 am), but still not feeling well. Since I didn’t have anything planned for this Saturday, I decided to skip on my bulletproof coffee and just spend the day recovering, in bed. It was also too hot outside, and there’s nothing better to do at home anyway. I went back to sleep, and woke up at lunch.
I cooked the rest of my Bisaya adobo. Taste buds were better than yesterday. Water also tasted normal already. I spent an hour or two watching Keto videos on YouTube and although there are a lot of conflicting theories or ideas about what you should eat or not, I just felt like as long as I monitor what I eat, it should be fine.
Enter Erwan’s Keto Breakfast Recipes
I’m not a big fan of Erwan, but I agree with every point he said about diets in general. Also, I realized I could eat more than just fried food if I got a bit more creative. So, I’m excited to try some of these out in the next few days, once I gather the ingredients. Keto doesn’t need to taste fatty every time, it can be flavorful, too!
Eggplant, again
For dinner, I didn’t want to cook anymore, so I just ordered food from Pink Panda. The most Keto-friendly one I could find was Tortang Talong (Eggplant Omelette), so I ordered that. I ate it right away, and later realized I had to take a picture for the blog, so here’s a not-so-appetizing photo of a half eaten tortang talong. Yum!
After dinner, I felt like I have fully recovered. I was dancing around to Seventeen (LOL) while cleaning the house a bit. I felt so much better, like I’ve returned back from Keto hell. I tried to sleep early, but I had so much energy so I wasted it away watching YouTube (tech videos this time – hello Nokia 8110 4G), and arguing with myself whether to get a mirrorless camera or not. I also played a bit of Pokemon Ultra Moon, until I finally got sleepy. I ended the day with an 800-calorie deficit, and a macro ratio of 63-24-12 (and that’s OK).
I’m just glad to have survived those 2 days, and I am ready for another week!
